Wentzville Woman Injured in Crash with Backhoe

The accident happened on Route MM in Lincoln County.

Paige O. Wood, 22, of Wentzville, was injured Tuesday afternoon when the car she was riding in struck a backhoe, the Missouri Highway Patrol reported.

Charles C. Watkins, 32, of Troy was driving the backhoe southbound on Route MM south of Route C in Lincoln County when he made a left turn into a parking lot around 3 p.m.

A 2005 Dodge Ram driven by Benjamin C. Holbrook, 24, of Moscow Mills, in which Wood was a passenger, attempted to pass the backhoe on the left side. The pickup struck the backhoe on the left side and then traveled off the roadway.

None of the three persons involved were wearing safety devices, and all three sustained minor injuries. Wood and Holbrook were transported by ambulance to SSM St. Joseph Hospital West.

The backhoe was moderately damaged and the Dodge Ram was totaled.
