DAR Delivers Christmas to Missouri Veterans Home

Members of the Caroline
Close Stuart Chapter, National Society of the Daughters of the American
Revolution (NSDAR) delivered Christmas gifts to the Missouri Veterans Home
located at 10600
Lewis Clark Blvd, St Louis, MO.  The Veterans Home will pass out the gifts
during their regular Christmas Party for the Veterans.

The Veterans home at
this location is just one of the seven homes operated in the state of Missouri.
To be eligible for admission to a Missouri Veterans Home (RSMo Chapter 42), a
Veteran during his or her lifetime must have lived in Missouri for 180 days,
meet the criteria for Veteran status established by the United States
Department of Veterans Affairs, and require institutional health care services.

Members of the
Chapter collected diabetic socks, note pads, pens, diabetic candy and gum, books,
magazines as well as personal care items under the leadership of the DAR
Service for Veterans Committee and Chairman, Marion Waters.  With nearly 200 residents at this location, each
veteran received a wrapped gift box along with a Christmas card signed by the
Chapter members.  The total donation is valued
at over $1,500.  The Chapter also
regularly supports many other Veterans projects throughout the year.

Waters says. “DAR is
a patriotic organization honoring the men and women who formed the roots of
this country.”  One of the DAR's
objectives is Patriotic - to cherish, maintain, and extend the
institutions of American freedom, to foster true patriotism and love of
country, and to aid in securing for mankind all the blessings of liberty.
We owe a great debt of gratitude to those who gave
of their time and lives so we could live free.  Supporting the Missouri Veterans Home is just
one way our Chapter fulfills our missions to make a
difference in the life of a Veteran and show them we appreciate their
service."
