CONSUMED: Sermon Series at New Creation Church

Christmas can be a great season, can’t it? We fill our bellies with delicious food. We take time to be with friends and family. We get to give and receive gifts.

Those are all good things, but we also know that there is another side to the story. We fill our bellies a little too much and gain some unwanted weight. Argh! We fill up our schedules so much that we are running from one thing to the next. Ugh! We fill up our credit cards with purchases of those “must-have” items. Oh, no! It can become a season of stress and exhaustion rather than “comfort and joy.”

It’s easy to get consumed by the mass consumption of the holiday season. We aren’t made to be consumers as much as we are made to be consumed. We are made to be caught up and captivated by God. We are made to be consumed by the good tidings of great joy that he has spoken to all people.

Christmas is a time of good news. It is a time to experience the comfort and joy of God. As the angels said, “For unto you is born this day, in the city of David, a Savior which is Christ the Lord.” It is Jesus alone who can truly save us and fill every day with the comfort, joy, peace and satisfaction for which we long.

If you’d like to know more about what it means to be caught up and captivated by God then join us at New Creation for our December series called “Consumed.”

Sunday worship services start at 10 a.m. A candlelight Christmas Eve service will be held Dec. 24 at 5 p.m.

New Creation is a safe place to pursue God and experience his grace. Visit us online at www.newcreationpca.com or on Facebook at www.facebook.com/NewCreationPCA.
