The recent events in Wash DC are impacting our local families and Noah's Ark Academy needs your help!
Noah’s Ark Academy is a 501c3, public charity. Providing
an early childhood program 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. While Noah's Ark has
always had an open door policy to assist foster children and children of
low-income families. They have come to rely upon government subsidies for a large part
of our operational budget. (68%)
Unfortunately with the government shutdown they were notified
on 9/30 that the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) funding would not be
disbursed at the end of the month. This amounts to $3,000 to $5,000
depending on the month. This funding usually covers about half of their end of month
payroll. For Noah's Ark Academy, this was a huge blow to their budget.

For everything Noah's Ark Academy has tried to continue doing to
help the community during the horrific economic times .... by accepting more
children with child care subsidy, sadly they put themselves in a hostage
situation “under the governments thumb”. Over the past year child care
authorizations have been more and more difficult to get in a timely manner, subsidy
payments have been “short” and resolving payment discrepancies requires a call
to Jeff City. Couple that with the rising cost of everything including their group healthcare plan and you have disaster.
As a direct result of the continued issues in Wash DC Noah's Ark Academy has been forced to (1) drop all group health benefits for staff; (2)
eliminate care of all foster / adopt children; (3) lay off half of their staff;
and (4) reduce their operational days and hours. This impacted 18 foster /
adopt children and 6 full time staff.
With the help of the Wentzville Community Noah's Ark Academy hopes to recover their enrollment so they are able to call back all of their
staff but in order to open the doors again to foster / adopt children Noah's Ark Academy will need to have donations / grants to offset the difference between the cost of care and the
amount paid with foster / adopt subsidies. Going forward with these
parameters they will be able to position the program to avoid being put in a government hostage situation
again.
