More for Less

Ameren gets a pay raise on the behalf of consumers.

This morning, I discovered that Ameren is raising our rates again. This time, it is a 7 percent rate increase. There is no doubt that this will have an impact on many of us. Maybe not a huge impact, but an impact nonetheless. Once again, we, the consumers, will have to find more money from somewhere in our budgets that will go into someone else’s pocket.

If you are like me, you are thankful to have a job. In addition, I am thankful that my job pays for the majority of my health insurance premiums. But, the rate of insurance increases every year. And even though I am thankful that I am getting a pay increase this year (1.5 percent), the increase in the cost of my health insurance out of my pocket is larger than my pay increase.

This seems to happen every year. We, the consumers, are expected to pay more for less.
