6-Year-Old Wentzville Boy Seriously Injured in ATV Accident

The boy was riding an ATV on private property when the throttle on the ATV he was riding became struck and the boy lost control of the vehicle.

A 6-year-old boy from Wentzville was seriously injured Saturday in an ATV accident.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the boy was driving the ATV on private property near River Oaks Lane in Crawford County. The throttle on the ATV the boy was riding on became stuck and he lost control before being tossed from the vehicle.

He was later air-lifted to Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital in St. Louis.

The highway patrol website says the boy was not wearing a safety device, although it was unclear if that meant he was not wearing a helmet.

Congratulations Dad! In your zeal to have your son become independent, self-directed, and probably reckless like you, has placed him in harms way with only medicine and God between him and the unthinkable. Once he is back home, I hope you will ensure it will be the safe and secure place that he and all like-minded kids belong. Learn from this and be a "real" man...protect your children from these tragedies even if it means saying "NO" on occasions. We all hope only the best for your son.

Wow that was harsh, Marshall. Consider tearful terrified parents sitting by a hospital bed watching their child experience pain and fear. And the parents come across angry accusations and insults from some random stranger? Compassion, man.

"Compassion" is all well and good but this should have never happened in the first place!! just more proof that it takes a License to drive, yet any fool can pop out a kid.
