The car chase began after the suspects allegedly shoplifted from the Sports Authority near Highway N and I-64 around 8:15 p.m., according to the Post-Dispatch.

A Lake St. Louis police officer attempted to stop the suspects' vehicle, after receiving a stealing-related report, according to a police news release.  The suspects refused to stop and ultimately drove head-on at the police car, striking it before fleeing the scene.
