Deputy Removed Man From Car At Gunpoint After He Moved For Firearm, Officer Says

Derrick Keys also is a suspect in drug-related shootings, according to a court document. A co-defendant, Jacari Rae Dallman, attacked a corrections officer in St. Charles County jail.

A St. Charles County Sheriff’s deputy removed a man from a car at gunpoint after he said the man made a move toward a gun in the vehicle during a traffic stop. The deputy found marijuana and methamphetamine in the car and also arrested a woman riding with Keys.

Derrick Keys, 40, of North Dakota, was charged Aug. 7 with trafficking in drugs and assaulting an officer.

Jacari Rae Dallman, 26, of Daytona Beach, FL, was charged Aug. 7 with trafficking in drugs. She was charged the next day with assaulting a corrections officer.

A St. Charles County Sheriff’s deputy reported he pulled Keys’ vehicle over on a traffic violation at mile marker 205 on westbound Interstate 70, just west of Wentzville July 7. When he approached the car, he saw the butt of a handgun sticking out from under Keys’ leg, and said Keys “made a movement toward the handgun.”

The deputy removed Keys from the car at gunpoint. The .45 cal pistol had a loaded magazine and a round in the chamber, according to the deputy’s report.

 According to a court document, Keys is under investigation by the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, and is a suspect in several drug-related shootings.

When asked in an interview why he made the move toward the gun, Keys would not answer, according to a police statement.

The deputy reported that he found bags containing meth and marijuana.

According to the report, Dallman admitted owning the marijuana, but said the meth was not hers. There was at least 450 grams of meth in the bag, or about one pound.

A corrections officer reported that Dallman assaulted her Aug. 7 in the St. Charles County jail, 301 North Second St. in St. Charles.

The officer reported Dallman “attempted to injure me by forcefully striking me in the left temple and face with her right fist, attempting to render me unconscious.”

Keys and Dallman are being held in the St. Charles County jail. Bail for Keys was set at $75,000, cash only.

Bail for Dallman is $75,000, cash only, on the drug trafficking charge. Bail is set at $25,000, cash only, for the assaulting an officer charge.
