FOX2: Wentzville Man Charged with Bank Robbery, Shooting State Trooper

Warren Gladders robbed a bank in Dutzow on Friday, police say, and then opened fire on a state trooper who pulled him over near New Melle.

Fox2 News reported yesterday that a Wentzville man has been charged in Friday's bank robbery in Dutzow and shooting of a state trooper near New Melle.

Warren Gladders, 64, was charged in Warren County with robbery, armed criminal action and first-degree assault against a law enforcement officer.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported that Gladders was also charged with possession of an illegal firearm.

Police say that Gladders robbed a bank in Dutzow Friday morning. His car was stopped near New Melle, and the suspect opened fire at a state trooper. The trooper was hit in the chest, but was wearing a bullet-proof vest. When the officer shot back, Gladders was injured in both legs.

Bail was set at $500,000.
