Girl, 18, Taken to Hospital With Serious Injuries Following Car Crash

Crash serious enough to close eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 for an hour.

An 18-year-old Wentzville girl was taken to the hospital with serious injuries after the car she was traveling in lost control and overturned on Interstate 70 Wednesday evening.

Jessica Self, 18, of Wentzville, was in the car with a 17-year-old female when the girl lost control of her car on I-70, just west of the Wentzville Parkway exit, at 7:25 p.m. The car traveled off the right side of the eastbound portion of Interstate 70 and overturned.

Self was taken to St. Joseph Health Center West by St. Charles County EMS crews with serious injuries. Another 17-year-old female passenger was taken to the same hospital for minor injuries.

According to the Missouri Department of Transportation's Twitter feed, the accident was serious enough to shut down the entire eastbound portion of I-70. Lanes were cleared an hour later.

An update on Self's condition is still unknown. The car, a 1999 Jeep Cherokee was totaled.
