On June 11, an accident on I-70 west of Hwy. Z sent one Wentzville resident to the hospital, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

At 5:35 p.m., rush hour traffic caused a 2012 Ford pickup driven by Bryon E. Peirce, 39, also of Wentzville, to be stopped in the westbound lanes.

Behind Peirce, a 2007 Mazda driven by Jessica L. Gilliam, 30, of Wentzville was traveling too closely behind a 2001 Ford pickup driven by Kyle D. Wilson of Troy. Gilliam's vehicle struck Wilson's truck, which then struck the rear of Peirce's truck.

Giliam sustained minor injuries and was transported to SSM St. Joseph Health Center. Gilliam's vehicle was totaled.

The other drivers were not hurt. All three drivers were wearing safety devices.
