Hitchhiker Says He Would Have Killed Cop For Interfering With His Mission

The suspect began pulling a handgun on Lake Saint Louis police officer after being stopped near Prospect Road and Woodlake Court.

A hitchhiker started to pull a handgun on a Lake Saint Louis police officer Friday, and later told the officer he would have killed her if she interfered with his carjacking mission, according to a court document.

The officer spotted the man, Christian Middleton, 21, of Spanish Lake in St. Louis County, hitchhiking at Prospect Road and Woodlake Court.

“Upon contacting Middleton, he became uncooperative and reached into his waistband with his right hand and attempted to pull a firearm,” the officer wrote in a Lake Saint Louis Police report. The officer spotted the handgun when Middleton opened his jacket.

According to the report, Middleton said during a taped interview that he intended to “carjack someone and take the vehicle to Chicago, IL to complete his mission.”

The statement also quotes Middleton saying that if the officer had interfered with his mission, he would have killed her.

Middleton has been charged with unlawful use of a weapon. Bond was set at $100,000.

A Lake Saint Louis Police official said they could not comment further on Middleton's mission because the incident still is under investigation.
