Lake Saint Louis Woman in 6-Car Accident on I-270

Jamie L. Purtle, 32, was involved in the chain-reaction accident Tuesday afternoon.

Jamie L. Purtle was stopped for traffic in her Jeep Liberty in the northbound lanes of Interstate 270 in St. Louis County when traffic came to a standstill north of Highway 40 just after 4 p.m. Tuesday.

A Ford F450 driven by Guy E. Ranstead, 68, of Ballwin was unable to stop in time and struck a Ford Escape which in turn rear-ended Purtle's vehicle. Purtle's car in turn struck the back of a Toyota Corolla driven by Robert J. Overman of O'Fallon.

Overman's car then struck the back of a Chevy Trailblazer, which struck the back of a Toyota Camry.
