Man Charged With Burglary Also Indicted On Child Molestation Charges

St. Charles County Sheriff's investigators said Matthew Burnett, of Lake Saint Louis, broke into a home and sexually touched a 13-year-old girl.

A man previously charged with burglary has been indicted on child molestation charges in the same incident on Dec. 12.

Matthew Burnett, of the 200 block of Shade Tree Court in Lake Saint Louis, was indicted April 5 by a St. Charles grand jury on two counts of child molestation and one count of second-degree burglary.

Patch reported earlier that Burnett is accused of breaking into a St. Charles County home near Wentzville Dec. 12. According to a Sheriff’s Department report, Burnett and Robert Mohrmann, 54, of the first block of Warsen Avenue, kicked in the door to the home.

Two young girls ages 13 and 6 were in the home. Mohrmann left when he saw the girls, according to a Sheriff’s Department report.

An investigator said that Burnett searched the home and told one girl to be quiet. He left the house, but came back in and grabbed the 13-year-old girl, holding her down on the couch with his hand over her mouth, according to court documents.

He then subjected the girl to sexual touching, according to the indictment handed down by the grand jury.

Mohrmann told officers they went into the home to steal property.

Burnett is being held in St. Charles County jail. Bail has been set at $30,000 for Burnett, who was on parole after pleading guilty to robbery in 2006.
