Drunk Man Choked, Threatened to Kill Girlfriend, Deputy Says

James Swint, 41, of St. Charles County, was charged with second-degree domestic assault.

A Wentzville man faces a felony charge after St. Charles County deputies said he choked and threatened to kill his girlfriend.

James Burton Swint, 41, of the 1400 block of Prospect Lakes Drive in St. Charles County between Wentzville and Lake Saint Louis, was charged Monday with second-degree domestic assault.

A St. Charles County Sheriff’s reported that Swint hit, pushed, threw and choked his girlfriend at the couple’s home Saturday. The deputy wrote in a report that Swint was “extremely intoxicated.”

At one point, Swint grabbed the woman by the neck, choked her and said, “You (expletive) up. Now, I’m going to have to kill you.”

The woman told deputies Swint’s drinking is out of control and she’s afraid of him.

Swint is being held in St. Charles County jail. Bail was set at $25,000, and he is not allowed to drink and is not allowed to have contact with his girlfriend.
