A police officer carried the wounded juvenile to an ambulance a block and a half away.

Wentzville Police have issued a press release confirming that yesterday's shooting involved a mother and son.

When officers arrived at the house they found a juvenile male that was severely wounded lying on the driveway in front of the residence.  Fearing for child’s safety and to protect him from further harm, the officer dragged him away from the front of the residence.  Being unable and unwilling to bring an ambulance into a potentially dangerous situation, the officer picked the child up and carried him to the ambulance that was staged about a block and a half away.

Police secure the perimeter and the St. Charles County Regional SWAT team was called in, West said. The SWAT team "utilized equipment and tactics" to enter the residence, where Laurie L. Anderson, 44, was found deceased.

An investigation by police determined that Anderson shot her son before turning the gun on herself.

Police have not confirmed a motive for the shootings.

The juvenile is in stable condition at St. Louis University Hospital, after being transferred from Cardinal Glennon.
