The Walgreen's pharmacist found the man behind the pharmacy counter at 5:30 a.m. on March 30. When the pharmacist confronted the man, the suspect left the store.
More than $800 in prescription medicines were stolen.
The Walgreen's Loss Prevention office was able to tie the incident to a similar one at a Walgreen's store in Washington earlier that day.
Detectives from both the Wentzville Police Department and the Washington, MO Police Department worked on the case, resulting in the identification of Joel T. Hughes, 19, of Union as the suspect.
Warrents were issued for his arrest by the St. Charles County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.
Hughes is being held in the Franklin County Jail and awaiting transportation to the St. Charles County Detention Facility. Bond is set at $25,000 cash.
