Hazelwood Man Fabricates Robbery, Breaks Into Suspects’ House While They’re Detained

A resident returned home to find him driving away from the residence, the back door pried open and a computer missing, Hazelwood Police said.

A Hazelwood man who accused people on his street of robbing him turned the tables and broke into their home Tuesday while they were talking to police, Hazelwood Police reported.

The man later admitted to police making up the robbery story, according to a police report.

Sidney Brown, 22, of the 500 block of Lynn Haven in Hazelwood, was charged Tuesday with second-degree burglary.

Hazelwood Police said Brown told officers that people who live in the 700 block of Lynn Haven robbed him. Several people were arrested and were taken to the police station for questioning. Brown also went to the station to provide a statement and then left.

One of the suspects was released and returned home to find Brown driving away from the residence, police said. The rear door had been forced open and a computer was missing.

Police arrested Brown, who said he took a car battery but not the computer or any other property, according to court documents. Brown also acknowledged that he fabricated the robbery story.

Brown is being held in St. Louis County jail in lieu of a $20,000 bond.

I beg to differ Tiffany. That house has a constant flow of traffic that goes in and out of that house. Cars that have never been seen before. These are not people just stopping by to say hi and hang out. They are in and out in a matter of minutes. Things like this will draw attention to people no matter who they are or where they live. The number of people that "live" there is over the amount of people that should be living in a home that size as well. If in fact they are staying there. But with so many people in and out of there, it is hard to say who actually resides there in the first place. This will also draw attention no matter who they are or where they live. The house also is violating pet ordinances by having two pit mixed dogs and two other dogs. This draws attention no matter who they are or where they live. Most people that think they are harrassed are only done so because they do the things to draw attention to themselves. The dumb things that people do are not limited to what color someones skin is or where they live. It happens everywhere, in every township across this great land of ours. Claiming Hazelwood to be "racista" (I can only guess you mean racist) is a cheap and weak excuse.
