Missing Wentzville Man Found According to Media Reports

Authorities have been searching for a 70-year-old man who disappeared Friday after saying he was taking a walk.

Media reports this morning indicate that a missing 70-year-old Wentzville man has been found and was safe and in good health.

KSDK-TV reported that Thomas J. Trapp was found in a homeless shelter in St. Louis.  KMOX radio had also reported a similar development in the case earlier Monday indicating he may have been found in a homeless shelter. Further details were unavailable immediately from police.

Trapp, of the 200 block of Peruque Valley Drive, has been missing since about 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 23.

Police say Trapp told his wife he was taking a walk and hasn’t been seen since.

Authorities have been searching for Trapp ever since they were contacted about 8:30 p.m. Friday evening.  A house-to-house search was conducted and trained dogs were used but police and fire officials turned up no signs of Trapp.

Divers checked sections of Peruque Creek on Monday as the search continued.

“There have been no clues, we’re trying to check every avenue,” said Capt. Kevin  Pyatt of the Wentzville Police Department.  Authorities were searching an area along Highway Z south of Interstate 70.

Trapp is described as 5 feet, 11-inches tall, weighing about 170 lbs, with blue eyes and glasses. He was last seen wearing a hooded blue coat with gray on the sleeves, a dark colored stocking cap, two tone tennis shoes- dark and light and blue jeans.

Police said Trapp often has Catholic religious medals with him, usually in his pant pockets or jacket.

Police say Trapp’s family described him as “agitated and uneasy” recently.
