Special Traffic Unit Responds to Citizen Complaints of Speeding

The Wentzville Police Department's special traffic unit has issued 274 summonses in its first nine days.

The Wentzville Police Department has put a special four-man traffic unit to work on the city's streets to deal with what they say is the number one complaint they hear from residents: "People are speeding."

In a press release, Major Paul West said, "The areas within the City that have had the highest incidents of traffic crashes as well as those that are known to be locations where drivers tend to drive beyond the posted limits are an enforcement priority for this traffic unit."

In its first nine days of operation, the unit issued 274 summonses and made 31 arrests.
