Wentzville McDonald's Worker Taps Into O'Fallon McDonald's Till, Police Say

O'Fallon Police said Jade A. Mills wore her McDonald's uniform and began waiting on customers at the O'Fallon restaurant before making off with $386.

When Jade Mills took a place behind the counter at the McDonald’s at Highway K near Interstate 70 in O’Fallon, it was a bit unusual. Mills worked at a McDonald’s in Wentzville, not O’Fallon.

O’Fallon Police said Mills went behind the counter wearing her McDonald’s uniform during a shift change Aug. 20 so her presence would be less conspicuous. She waited on two customers.

During the second transaction, Mills took cash from the customer and opened the cash drawer and gave the customer their change, police said. She then took $386 from the drawer and left the store.

Wentzville Police said Mills got out of the taxi near Bear Creek Drive and ran. The driver exited the car and ran after her, but lost sight of her and called police. A Wentzville police officer spotted Mills run inside her front door and saw she matched the description given by the cab driver.

The officer said when he took Mills into custody, she told her mother she didn’t pay for cab fare. The driver identified Mills, police said.
