Woman Caught With Kilo of Cocaine During I-70 Traffic Stop Near Wentzville
The woman told a St. Charles County deputy she was taking the cocaine to Phoenix for a friend.
An Arizona woman faces criminal charges after officers discovered drugs in her car following a traffic stop.
Karla Palacios, of Tempe, AZ, was charged Feb. 5 with delivering a controlled substance and possession of cocaine with intent to distribute.
A St. Charles County Sheriff’s deputy pulled Palacios’ car over on westbound Interstate 70 at the 205 mile marker for multiple traffic violations.

The deputy said the woman showed signs of extreme nervousness during the traffic stop and a K-9 unit was called in. The dog alerted on the trunk. A search revealed a kilo of cocaine inside a cooler in the trunk, according to a court document.
Palacios told officers she was taking the cocaine to Phoenix for a friend.

Palacios is being held in St. Charles County jail. Bail was reduced Monday from $10,000, cash only, to $2,500.
