Aldermen to Interview City Administrator Candidates

The city administrator position has been vacant since August 2011. Dennis Walsh has filled in on an interim basis.

More than a dozen city administrator candidates will be vetted by the Board of Aldermen Saturday.

The meeting is closed to the public. 

Dianna Wright, the previous city administrator, left the post in August 2011 because of "irreconcilable differences" after she had held the job since June 2008.

Aldermen appeared to have some sense of urgency finding a new city administrator at the board's meeting on Wednesday. Several discussion topics stalled as aldermen preferred to seek further guidance from a prospective city administrator. 

The city administrator is appointed to the position by the board of aldermen, according to the city's website. The administrator provides professional leadership in carrying out the policies and objectives formulated by the board of aldermen.

The city administrator is part of a team with the mayor and board of aldermen, and may make recommendations to them. 

Finance Director Dennis Walsh has filled in as city administrator on an interim basis since Wright's departure.
