Another Candidate Files for Wentzville Aldermanic Seat

Of 10 candidates who have filed, seven have filed for three open seats on the city's Board of Aldermen.

Another candidate has filed for aldermen in Wentzville bringing the total to 10 candidates running in the April 3, 2012 election.

Jeremy Pritchett filed his candidacy for a Ward 2 alderman seat on Friday.  He joins Sonya Shryock and Donna J. Sherwood as candidates for the seat.  The incumbent is Vann Sample.

The other nine candidates filed for office on Dec. 13, the opening day of filing.

The candidates for mayor are Bill Schuette, Ward 3 Alderman Nick Guccione, and Ward 1 Alderman and current board president Leon Tow.

Whomever wins election to the mayoral post in April will serve more time in office. Wentzville voters approved last April. Aldermen will continue to serve two-year terms.

Others filing include candidates in two other aldermen races.

Jay Weber has filed for Ward 1 alderman. Tow is the the incumbent.

In Ward 3, Rick Stokes, the incumbent, faces a challenge so far from Rodney E. Stratman and Michael Hays.

Filing for city offices closes at 5 p.m. on Jan. 17.

To run for alderman, a person must be age 21, a United States citizen, and a resident of the city and ward for a year before the election, and a qualified voter.  Candidates also have to pay up their city taxes to be eligible to run. There is a $25 filing fee for city office.

Five candidates, including two incumbents, had filed Tuesday for two open seats on the Wentzville Board of Education.

The candidates filing on Dec. 13 were incumbents Sheryl Cox and David Hurst, along with candidates Michael Spiroff, Aaron Schaper and Saundra Garber.
