Board of Aldermen Adds Public Works Director to Professional Search Service

The amendment to the contract with Mercer Group will cost another $15,500.

The Wentzville Board of Aldermen is happy with the work of Mercer Group so far in their search for a new city administrator, so they've added another city staff position to their contract with the professional recruiting service.

The Mercer Group will now start looking for a Director of Public Works for the city.

The city's last . Smith had been with the city for about 18 months. Doug Lee has been filling in as Interim Director since Smith's departure.

The city's original contract with Mercer Group was for a maximum of $21,000. $16,500 was the fee for the service, plus a maximum of $4,500 in expenses.

The addition of a public works director to the contract will cost $12,000 more in fees and a maximum of $3,500 more in expenses, for a total of $15,500 for the public works director and a grand total of $36,500 for the recruitment of both positions.

The board also talked about the position of Finance Director, which will be available when Dennis Walsh retires at the end of the year.

Current Interim City Administrator George Kolb suggested that the board get an interim finance director from the firm that placed him, Interim Public Management, LLC.

The board decided to delay that decision until Dec. 26, to allow time to see if a previous candidate for the position is qualified and available.
