Board to Give Final Approval for Vehicle Storage Lot

The property on Veterans Memorial Parkway requires a final vote on rezoning before the board can approval a conditional use permit.

The will be voting Wednesday night to give final approval for a vehicle-storage lot on Veterans Memorial Parkway at Oakley Lane.

The motor-vehicle self-storage lot will allow storage of cars, trucks, trailers and RVs, including boats and campers. The facility will have 24-hour access through an electronic gate and keypad.

The developer has agreed to a city request that no maintenance be conducted at the lot, and that no derelict or abandoned vehicles be parked there.

The city is also requiring that lights for the facility be no taller than 25 feet, so as not to affect nearby homeowners.

The board will vote first on rezoning the approximately 1-acre lot from R-1C Single Family Residential Zoning District to C-3 Highway Commercial Zoning District. If that ordinance passes, they will then vote on a resolution to issue a conditional use permit for the facility.
