Candidate Profile: Larry DeGroodt, Ward 1

Lake Saint Louis Patch brings you profiles of all the candidates in the upcoming April 3 election.

Name: Larry DeGroodt

Ward: 1 (incumbent)

What is the primary reason you are running for this office?  I have no aspirations of political fame, power, glory, wealth etc., etc. I have no vendettas or grudges. A good idea is a good idea and it does not matter where it comes from! The only special interest group I represent is the citizens of ward 1 and the city as a whole. I look at this as a job that needs to be done and if the citizens would like I will be happy to do it.

What will be your single most important priority if you get elected? The only special interest group I represent is the citizens of Ward 1 and the city as a whole. I look at this as a job that needs to be done and if the citizens would like I will be happy to do it.  I am accessible, my phone has been in the book since 1982: 561-8459. I have city email and personal email, Ldegr@centurytel.net. I always respond.

How long have you lived in Lake Saint Louis? My family and I moved to Lake Saint Louis in 1982. We thought it would be a great place to live. We were right then and we are still right today. I am running for Ward 1 Alderman, AGAIN, because I would like to try and keep it that way.

What issues do you see facing Lake Saint Louis in the future? The city has many infrastructure problems. Some have been around for decades, others are a matter of ongoing maintenance. They are being addressed but lack of funds slows the progress. Continued controlled commercial growth will alleviate the problem. However protecting the Lakes must always take priority. Without the lakes we are just another city.
