City of Wentzville Has New Director of Public Works

Scott J. Smith started Monday

The city of has hired Scott J. Smith as the city's new director of public works. Smith started work Monday.

Smith comes to Wentzville with 12 years experience. He most recently served as the city engineer in Florissant. Smith also has worked as a civil engineer for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Wentzville officials conducted a nationwide search in order to fill the position. The search included an extensive assessment procedure that included two interview panels, two situational exercises and a formal reception.

 Smith steps into the position with several high-profile projects facing . Those projects include:

  • Wastewater Treatment plant expansion
  • Transportation improvements.

"We welcome Scott Smith as our new director for the public works department," said City Administrator Dianna Wright. "Scott is a professional who brings a great deal of internal and external credibility, enthusiasm and a strong team orientation. His excellent project management, communication and customer service skills will help us continue to make Wentzville a great community in which to live and work."

Smith also is very positive about his new position.

"I would like to thank the Board of Aldermen, Mayor Lambi and City Administrator Wright for giving me this opportunity to serve one of the most well-respected communities in the St. Louis-metropolitan area," Smith said. "As director of public works, I plan to promote an efficient work mindset with employees, and build team spirit and self worth within the city's Public Works Department. I look forward to working with public works and other city staff members to serve Wentzville residents to the highest level."
