Former Wentzville Mayor Throws Hat in the Ring for Ward 3 Seat

Darrel Lackey served as Wentzville's mayor from 1992 to 1996.

The candidates for the April 2 municipal election are set, and Wentzville's Ward 3 has three candidates vying for alderman: Michael Hays, Linda L. Wright, and Darrel Lackey.

Michael Hays, the incumbent, was appointed to the seat by Mayor Nick Guccione. The seat was left vacant after Guccione became mayor last year. Hays filed his candidacy in December.

Darrel Lackey served as an alderman for Ward 2 from 1987 to 1992. In 1992 he was elected to Mayor and served two two-year terms. Then, from 2002 to 2006, he was alderman for Ward 3, where he has again filed for candidacy.

Last year, Lackey ran against Guccione, Leon Tow and Bill Schuette in the mayoral race that put Guccione in the mayor's chair.
