CANDIDATE QUESTIONS

1.        Primary Reason Running for Office: To continue to make reasonable and fiscally responsible decisions for the residents.  It is my job to work with all residents on their issues and concerns, and sometimes it is a compromise between the parties on the solution.  I feel with my three years experience on Planning & Zoning, I have the background to provide input and requests on new developments and businesses, new ordinances and revisions to ordinances effecting zoning, and at the same time work within what legally can and cannot be changed.

2.       Single Most Priority if Elected:  My first priority will be to endorse our ½ of 1% sales tax for streets and parks capital improvements which our residents will vote on in August.  As our infrastructure gets older, we need to be on a cycle to maintain all of our residential streets, and major streets like Lake St. Louis Blvd.  Over 1/3 of our residents utilize the City parks on a regular basis, and we must maintain and add amenities for the families who use our parks.  A healthy and growing community is one which maintains all of these things for the residents, this helps to improve the value of their homes.

3.       Favorite thing about Lake Saint Louis:  The lifestyle – we have a beautiful community with all of our parks, green space, trees, lakes, etc. while at the same time planned commercial development that enhances our shopping convenience, and provides revenue to the city in sales taxes.  The residents are some of the friendliest in the area and take pride in their city - many would not want to live anywhere else in the area.

4.       Biggest Problem You See in Lake Saint Louis: As with many cities today, we must maintain our homes.  We must continue to ensure our homes are up to code, as this keeps up property values.  I will be one of two aldermen, along with CA Board representatives and City staff to serve on a new committee to address these concerns.

5.       What is your vision for Lake Saint Louis:  My vision is to continue to be a “top notch” first class community, and not to waiver too much from our original reputation as one.  While we should encourage businesses in those areas zoned as such, we need to ensure they blend in with our community, and we do not change our ordinances to “keep up with the other surrounding cities”, such as additional, taller, and brighter signage.  We need to maintain our current codes on residential, as many residents chose Lake Saint Louis due to stricter codes.  Sometimes codes may seem inconvenient, but they help to maintain the value of our homes.

6.       Why do you think you should retain your Seat:  Although I am running unopposed, I feel I must work even harder for the residents.   When I vote on issues affecting our City, I try to do so with what benefits the majority of the residents.  This means I need to be fiscally responsible with the residents’ money, and legally and ethically within Federal and State laws, as well as our own ordinances.  It means sometimes you have to say “no” to requests that benefit only a few, and may legally not be appropriate if you grant their desires (either something they wish added to or changed to our ordinances, or a zoning request we cannot legally deny).  I am always available to work with the residents of Lake Saint Louis on any issue.
