Lake Saint Louis Asks Voters to Approve Annexations

The five parcels contain a Firestone store and a Wentzville fire station, but no residents are currently living on them.

Tuesday's ballot includes propositions allowing Lake Saint Louis voters to decide whether or not to accept five parcels of land into the city limits.

According to a city press release, the annexation process for these properties does not involve the use of eminent domain. • Three parcels of just over an acre each, located in an area north of Hawk Ridge Trail, west of I-64, and south of Highway N. A Firestone store is located on one of these parcels.
  • One parcel of slightly more than two acres located in an area north of the old Highway N right-of-way, south of Orf Road, and east of Highway N.  This parcel contains an existing Wentzville Fire District fire station.
  • A parcel containing about 6 acres and located east of Lake Saint Louis Boulevard, south of Orf Road and north of Highway N.  This parcel is part of the National Equestrian Center complex.

According to the press release, the annexations have benefits to both the city and its residents as well as the owners of the affected parcels. The owners of the properties will have access to the Lake Saint Louis' police force, to the city's code enforcement, and to other city services. City staff are confident that they will be able to provide these services at no additional cost to taxpayers because of limited size of the areas proposed for annexation.

Lake Saint Louis and its residents will also gain from the annexations, the city's press release states, providing new residential and commercial areas that would be subject to the city’s zoning codes and review and "ensuring high quality developments consistent with the rest of the city."
