Lake Saint Louis: 'Only Rain in the Drain'

Summer is the season when residents think about disposing of everything from yard waste to used oil and old paint—but the storm sewer is NOT the place to do it.

The City of Lake Saint Louis has issued the following press release:

The summer lawn and garden care season is upon us.

The City of Lake St. Louis would like to remind our residents that Christian Disposal offers yard waste pick-up every Thursday through November. Christian Disposal will pick up yard waste December – January if you call (866) 566-8367.

The yard waste must be separated from the other trash and can be in a brown paper yard waste bag or in a separate can with handles.

Never dump anything into a storm drain, including oil, paint, soap, debris, leaves, and other yard waste.

Storm sewers don't go to the sewer treatment plant; they discharge directly into our streams that will eventually flow into our lakes. Leaves and other yard waste can clog storm sewer pipes and cause flooding.
