Luby Resigns from Wentzville Board of Aldermen

John Luby was appointed to the Ward 3 seat in September.

John Luby, who was appointed to fill the Wentzville Board of Aldermen's vacant Ward 3 seat in September, has resigned.

Mayor Nick Guccione confirmed to Wentzville Patch that Luby resigned due to a family member's medical issues that have kept him from attending board meetings. Luby has to travel to Kansas City regularly, and he did not think it was fair to either the board or the community that he was forced to miss so many meetings.

The Ward 3 vacancy was created when Alderman Nick Guccione won the election for mayor in April. At times, Guccione and the board have been at odds about the appointment.

The board approved a procedure for citizens to apply for the empty seat, but .

Guccione told Patch that he would like appoint Hayes to fill the position. "If the board would accept the appointment," he said. "I would go back to my original recommendation. He's willing to step up to the plate," Guccione said.
