New Ridgepointe Plan Addresses Residents' Concerns

At tonight's meeting, residents will have one last chance to express their concerns about changes to the development plan for the Villas at Ridgepointe before the bill has its first reading.

Residents of the at a March 19 board of aldermen meeting. Some residents were unhappy that Kemp homes, the developer, was proposing to build two-story homes in what the residents considered to be a senior community. They also expressed concerns about the homeowners' association and services that had been promised but not delivered.

Since then, the . Some of the points that the bill now contains are:

• identifying the lots that will be allowed to have one-and-a-half or two-story homes built on them, and limiting the roof heights
• providing that homeowners hold a majority of seats on the Homeowners' Association
• a $450 one-time assessment on new residents for reconstruction and dam maintenance
• that Mark Teitelbaum not serve as a director of the HOA

In addition, residents have asked that "the HOA starts out with a clean balance sheet free of all debt. Kemp Homes will not close and take possession of the property from RGB Construction until RGB Construction agrees to absolve the HOA from any further repayment of debt and execute with the HOA a reciprocated hold-harmless and release of future liability."
