Senior Living Development up for Second Reading at BoA Meeting

The board will also discuss filling the Ward 3 vacant seat during a special session 15 minutes prior to the regular meeting.

At tonight’s meeting, the board could approve a resolution for the Twin Oaks At Stone Ridge independent-living development.

During their last meeting, the board gave a first reading of the bill, which would allow the rezoning of an 8-acre parcel on Santa Elena Drive, north of Wentzville Parkway.

The new independent-living development would be adjacent to Twin Oaks Senior Living Campus at Heritage Pointe. The new development would also offer a location for a senior center if approved.

A pedestrian walkway will connect the two developments, and tenants of the new development would be able to use the dining room at Twin Oaks at Heritage Point.

The developer, Heritage Pointe Garden Homes, is asking the board to change the zoning of the site from multi-family residential to planned development residential.

Special session to fill empty seat

Prior to tonight’s meeting, the board will hold a special session at 5:45 p.m. to discuss how the board will fill the Ward 3 seat, which was left vacant after Nick Guccione was elected mayor and sworn in on April 25.

Guccione has said the board should approve his appointment, but board members expressed a desire to create an application process to create a pool of potential candidates.

. If that happens, the seat could remain empty until the April 2013 regular election. Calling a special election just to fill the seat would be an unnecessary expense on taxpayers, Guccione said.
