Expansion part of Proposition 3.

The Wentzville Board of Aldermen Wednesday approved a site plan for the expansion of . The expansion is part of the school district's plan to expand facilities.

Voters approved in April to fund the expansion of existing facilities and the construction of a new high school to deal with the district's exploding enrollment.

The approved site plan includes a new two-floor wing at South Middle, along with an additional 2,200 square feet for kitchen and cafeteria space.

The plan includes moving the current entrance farther north on Perry Cate Blvd and widening the road. The move is aimed at alleviating traffic congestion during school drop off and pick up times.

Bax Engineering, on behalf of the Wentzville School District, told the board the road widening was part of an alternate bid with the construction and would be determined by cost. Board members said they believed the road improvements were necessary.
