Special Meeting Called to Fill Empty Ward 3 Seat
One of the Ward 3 seats has been vacant since the election of Nick Guccione as mayor.
The will hold a special meeting at 5:45 p.m. on Wed., May 23 to appoint a Ward 3 alderman.
The Ward 3 seat was left vacant after Nick Guccione was elected Mayor and sworn in on April 25. , and board members expressed their desire to create an application process to create a pool of potential candidates.
. If that happens, the seat could remain empty until the April 2013 regular election. Calling a special election just to fill the seat would be an unnecessary expense on taxpayers, Guccione said.

The May 23 special meeting is being held just before the regular 6 p.m. board of aldermen meeting.
