CANDIDATE QUESTIONS

1. What is the primary reason you are running for this office?
I am incredibly excited about being in this district and want to see it grow and thrive in the coming years as it has in the past.  With three young kids in our schools and established roots within the community, I bring a unique perspective to the board.  I want to see our kids prosper and advance to be constructive members or our community.  I feel like I can help accomplish this by serving on the Wentzville Board of Education.

2. What will be your single most important priority if you get elected?
The children.  Every decision that I make will ensure that our kids are taken care of in the best possible way.

3. What's your favorite thing about the Wentzville School District?
Simple.  The passion I have found within the schools.  Talking to staff, teachers, administration and, of course, parents, the passion for our district and making sure our kids are successful is simply amazing.  I am proud to be part of the district as a parent and look forward to contributing as a board member.

4. What is the biggest problem you see in the district?
I don't think that the district has a lot of glaring problems but do believe that we have some challenges ahead of us.  One challenge is keeping our teachers and students abreast of the upcoming Common Core standards which are just around the corner.  In addition, we still need to manage the growth we have seen over the past years as well as the growth we are still experiencing throughout our community.

5. What is your vision for the district and its students?
The district will continue to grow as a leader in the state, attracting and retaining more high quality teachers and equipping them with the resources they need to advance our students.  Student achievement levels will continue to increase and the district will have the most technologically advanced students in the state as well as an even greater presence in the nation.

6. If an incumbent, why do you think you should retain your seat? If you are challenging an incumbent, what do you think qualifies you for the position more than the incumbent?
I believe I bring multiple perspectives to the board of education. With three children in the district, I know first hand what our kids want and need from their schools to be successful now and in the future. Also, with a degree in Computer Information Systems and working in the information technology sector for 18 years, I understand the need to drive the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) fields to keep our kids competitive in an increasingly competitive worldwide ecosystem. Finally, working in the private sector with corporations with large growth rates and multi-million dollar projects, I know I can handle the challenges that we have in our “fastest growing” district in the state.
