Wentzville Parkway, Schroeder Creek Road Projects Receive Funding Assistance

The board

The funding for improvements that would add a center turn lane to Wentzville Parkway between William Dierberg Drive and Schroeder Creek Boulevard was approved by the Wentzville Board of Aldermen Wednesday night.

The project also includes the installation of a wider pedestrian trail.

Of a total project cost of more than $2 million, the city's contribution will be $589,000.

East West Gateway has approved more that $1 million towards the project and a previous $1 million grant was approved from the St. Charles County Road Board.

The project schedule calls for bids to be let in January of 2014, with a contract award in March of 2014.

The board also approved the first reading for the funding for a $5.3 million project to extend Schroeder Creek Boulevard from its present terminus at the Law Enforcement Center south to West Pearce Boulevard. That project will be reimbursed 70 percent by St. Charles County Transportation Sales Tax Funds.

The new roadway will improve access and help alleviate traffic congestion, city staffers say, and will also provide better access for the future Heartland Park as well as Holt High School and other school district facilities located along Campus Drive.

The Schroder Creek Boulevard project should begin construction in 2015.
