Wentzville Board of Aldermen Considers New Traffic Commission

The Mayor requested information about the creation of a City Traffic Commission during the board's May 2012 retreat.

At Wednesday's regular meeting of the , city staff offered a plan for the creation of a city traffic commission, as requested by Mayor Nick Guccione at the board retreat earlier this year.

Staff suggested that a traffic commission would have the authority to:

  • Identify best practices in other cities for possible use in Wentzville
  • Identify high-accident locations and look at possible remedies
  • Take citizen suggestions, complaints and concerns about traffic
  • Make recommendations to city staff, the mayor and board of aldermen

Interim Public Works Director Doug Lee said that the board could consist of two residents from each of the city's three wards, a police designee, a Public Works designee, and a member of the board of aldermen.
