Wentzville Swears in New Mayor, Aldermen

The Community says goodbye to their mayor of eight years, Paul Lambi.

Wednesday night's regular meeting of the board of aldermen convened with a standing-room only crowd that spilled into the city hall foyer.

The public comment portion of the meeting brought well-wishers to the podium, thanking Mayor Lambi for his service and devotion to the community. O'Fallon Mayor Bill Hennessy and St. Peters Board President Tommy Roberts both presented Lambi with resolutions from their cities honoring his work.

Community leaders like Donna-Marie Pierre of the downtown business association and Mike Dinello of the Chamber of Commerce praised Lambi's work for their organizations.

Others thanked him for his contribution to community fundraisers. "His heart and soul goes into this community," said one speaker.

Tony and Jo Albers, city residents for only a month, expressed their thanks to Lambi and his wife Rose. "Thank you for encouraging us to come out here. You sold us on Wentzville."

After a full agenda, the board voted to accept the results of the April 3 election. City Clerk Vitulla Skillman administered the oath of office to new aldermen Forrest Gossett (Ward 1) and Sonya Shryock (Ward 2) and returning alderman Rick Stokes (Ward 3).

Skillman then administered the oath of office to Nick Guccione, Wentzville's newly-elected mayor, after Guccione resigned his position as alderman.

There was a short reception before the new mayor and board sat down and got right back to business.
