Wentzville Interviewing City Administrator Candidates Friday

The city has been without a city administrator since Dianna Wright left the position in late August 2011.

The issued an announcement today that the board of aldermen would hold a closed meeting tomorrow, April 20, at 4 p.m. to interview more candidates for the position of City Administrator.

The in late August. City officials cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for Wright's resignation. She had served in the position since June 2008.

Wentzville’s Director of Finance and Assistant City Administrator, Dennis Walsh, has served as the interim city administrator while the position remained unfilled.

The administrator provides professional leadership in carrying out the policies and objectives formulated by the board of aldermen, according to the city's website, and duties of the office include:

  • Functioning as the chief administrative assistant to the mayor and chief operating officer of the city.
  • Preparing and submitting an annual budget and a five-year Capital Improvement Program to the Board for consideration
  • Supervising purchasing, budgeting, financial reporting, public relations, policy development and personnel management.
  • Serving as the Board’s chief advisor 
  • Coordinating the day-to-day operation of all city departments to carry out the policies of the board of aldermen and ensure the citizens of Wentzville are being properly served.
  • Being responsible for the administration of all city personnel.
