Wentzville's Prop T Gets Voter Approval; Spencer Edges Out Gard

Wentzville Patch recaps the results of Tuesday's primary election.

Yesterday, asked its voters to approve Proposition T, a 1/2-cent sales tax renewal for the purpose of funding transportation improvements for resurfacing of roadways, for road upgrading and construction of new roadways.

Voters approved the renewal, with 2326 yes votes and 1229 no votes.

The original sales tax was approved by voters in 1999 and is due to sunset in 2014, prompting the vote to renew the tax.

In other election news, it was a close race between Republicans Chris Gard and Bryan Spencer for the Republican candidate for Missouri House District 63. Spencer won the race by 136 votes.

"We ran a great race," Gard said when Patch caught him at his watch party at in Wentzville. "It was a very close race and we're very proud of what we did." Gard went on to wish his opponent good luck in the November election.

Patch asked Gard about his aspirations for the future, he said, "I've still got an alderman's job to do, and we'll figure it out after that. My very next aspiration is to get some sleep."

Robert Cornejo won the Republican nod for Missouri House District 64 over Wentzville Alderman Rick Stokes (1981 votes to 1444 votes). Cornejo will run against Democratic candidate Wayne J. Henke in November.

In Missouri House District 107, Ron Hicks won the Republican race against A.C. Dienoff (2571 votes to 619 votes), and Hicks will take on Democrat Rod Hoffman in the November election.

Incumbent Republican Chuck Gatschenberger was unopposed in Missouri House District 108.

St. Charles County Council

Incumbent Joe Brazil won the Republican nomination for Dist. 2 with 3266 votes against challenger Robert Jay Stephens, who had 1835 votes. The winner will run unopposed in November as no Democrats filed.

In Dist. 4, David Hammond defeated Paul Wynn for the Republican nod. Hammond will face Democrat Michael L. Boyd in November.
