Additional Security Planned for Holt High School After Gun Rumors

Dr. Terry Adams told parents that "no credible threat has been received."

KSDK Channel 5 reported Friday night that Wentzville School District Superintendent Dr. Terry Adams sent a note to district parents Friday about an unsubstantiated rumor of a shooting threat at Holt High School on Dec. 21.

Given the tragic events in Connecticut today, Holt High School administrators and District officials would like to make you aware of the rumors circulating about a threat involving a student with a gun coming to school on Friday, December 21. We want to let parents and students know that no credible threat has been received by school officials, but a thorough investigation is being conducted by District administrators and local law enforcement. There will be an additional police presence at the school on Friday, and the Wentzville Police Department will have officers in the building at all times during the school day.

Friday is the last day of finals at Holt High School, and our intent is to conduct our school day with minimal interruption to our instructional schedule. The safety of our students is always our primary concern, and we will always take every precaution to ensure a safe learning environment for your child. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at the school office."

Wentzville Patch will post more information as it becomes available.

After the tragic happenings in CT. last Friday and the threat of a similar event for Holt on 12/21/12 I am seriously considering keeping my daughter home that day. After speaking with the school, the finals she would miss on Friday, she could take when they get back from Christmas break.

We shouldn't have to live in fear, it's almost as being defeated..... But when it comes to children, particularly my own (as a parent), will endure whatever feeling come my way such us oppression or lack of liberty, defeat....in order to provide a safe enough environment for our young ones so we are never, ever forced to face the most painful feeling of losing them as those parents in CT have had.

Ok I have changed my position, my daughter will be attending Friday. Just received another well worded email from WSD Superintendent Dr. Adams, plus my daughter said there were police all over the school yesterday protecting the kids. WAY TO STEP UP WSD AND WPD.
