On Schedule: School Construction Update

The weather has been favorable for outside grading and exterior work, keeping construction on or ahead of schedule.

Things are rolling right along with construction in the , Chief Financial Officer Kari Monsees has reported to Patch.

"Knock on wood, we've been very fortunate with the weather," Monsees said.

At , construction is nearly complete on an addition which will be in use this spring. "We're waxing the floors," Monsees said. Three other projects are close to completion, but Monsees said that those will not be in use until the fall.

  • At the , plans are underway to line a detention pond with a thicker clay to prevent leaks, and plantings and sod will be installed this spring.
  • Light fixtures are in at the addition and window and door trim is being painted. Ceiling tile work is continuing. Marker board and tack boards are being installed.
  • At , the roof has been installed on the classroom addition. HVAC and electrical work will be next up for the cafeteria addition.
  • At l, grading and sidewalks work around the addition continues as weather permits.
  • The addition restrooms have had ceramic tile floors and sinks installed.
  • addition coat racks have been installed, as well as electrical devices such as outlets, lights and speakers.
  • The music addition now has brick veneer installed; the classroom addition has rough-in plumbing installed.
  • Work has started on the addition's ductwork, and removal of an existing corridor.
  • 's classroom addition is getting windows and metal stuf framing for interior walls.
  • The Central Office loop drive sidewalks are in progress.
  • At the , staking, construction entrances and barricades are in place. Layouts are being reviewed and exterior elevations have been approved by the City of O'Fallon. Tree removal is complete. Grading the site will take about two months, Monsees said.
