Holt Gets 'Footloose' This Weekend

Holt High School musical will be held Nov. 17-19.

Theater will present Footloose at 7 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, Nov. 17-19.

This Broadway style stage production was adapted by Dean Pitchford and Walter Bobbie and based on the original screenplay by Dean Pitchford. The original show music is by Tom Snow and Dean Pitchford with additional music from the original soundtrack by Eric Carmen, Sammy Hagar, Kenny Loggins and Jim Steinman. 

Footloose tells the familiar story of Ariel Moore (Lara Flanders) who is struggling to find her place in her family and her father’s heart after her brother is killed in an auto accident. Reverend Moore (Nathan Hinds) has reacted to the accident and his loss by shutting out his wife Vi (Abigail Alsmeyer) and leading the town to ban public dances. When Ren McCormack (Cody Cole) a young boy from Chicago is forced with his mother Ethel (Mandy Clevenger) to move to their small Texas town, he brings a new energy that forces everyone to examine their lives, the choices they make and what is most important.

All the characters from the 1984 original film are there to help the story along. The county bumpkin Willard (Parker Gleason) and his lady Rusty (Madison Miller) help guide Ren and Ariel toward each other. The dangerous Chuck Cranston (Jonathan Russell) keeps tensions high as the older boyfriend of whom Ariel’s parent’s disapprove. Ethyl’s sister Lulu (Grace Malinee) and husband Wes (Matt Doll) provide a place for the McCormacks to live, while the school principal (Will Pendergast) and wrestling coach (Austin Muschamp) keep Ren under constant surveillance. The show includes classic hits like “The Girl Gets Around,” “Let’s Hear if for the Boy,” “Almost Paradise,” “Holding Out for a Hero” and “Footloose.”

Also featured in the production are Kaitlin Bishop, Kari Leigh Brinkley, Karly Cavanaugh, Hannah Ellerbrook, Chris Geerling, Meredith Gleason, Ryan Goodwin, Ashlyn Gordon, Riley Grady, Wes Guthrie, Emily Hampton, Alexander Hand, Aislinn Hartman, Allie Hult, Lauren Jurotich, Danielle Kimbrel, Allison Laws, Hannah Michaelree, Andrew Milhous, Joey Neumann, Hali Pace, Cayla Patterson, Alex Payeur, Patrick Rauschelbach, Chris Rosado, Allie Sanderson, Brenden Schaeffer, Halie Schoene, Coleman Sweeten, Kristin Thurwachter and Michael Twellman.

The production is under the stage management team of Chloe Buckman, Lydia Richardson and Hannah Gerlt. 

General admission is $8 for adults and $6 for students.
