Police responded to the 400 block of Kent Drive regarding a reported home invasion. Because it was reported the suspect fled on foot in an area that lies a few blocks from three schools, the schools were placed on “tightened security”. The students were allowed to move freely inside the buildings to change classes. They were not allowed outside.

The suspect is described as a thin white male approximately early to mid 20’s,  messy blonde hair approximately 3”4” in length, wearing a white tee shirt and blue jeans.

Wentzville Police have given the three Wentzville schools that were put on lockdown the all clear as of 2 p.m. today.

Wentzville Patch Editor Tamara Duncan, who is at Wentzville Holt High School, says things appear to be all clear at the high school, with students dismissing and leaving the parking lot in their cars.

The police situation in a nearby neighborhood began at around 1:30 p.m. and police put Wentzville Holt High School, Wentzville Middle School and Heritage Elementary School on lockdown.

Students were safe inside their classrooms. The lockdown was to make sure no one exited or entered school buildings, police say.

A developing police situation in a Wentzville neighborhood has forced Wentzville School District officials to put three of its schools, including Wentzville Holt High School, on lockdown.

The Wenztville School District confirmed to Fox 2 News that Holt High School was placed on lockdown Wednesday around 1:30 p.m.

Police say an incident that occurred at a home near the school, but did not involve the school, prompted the lockdown.

Wentzville Middle School and Heritage Elementary are also on lockdown, KSDK reports.

From the Wentzville School District Facebook page:

Heritage Elementary, Wentzville Middle and Holt High School have all been placed on heightened security on the recommendation of the Wentzville Police Department because of a situation unfolding in a local neighborhood. At this time all entrances and exits are locked at those buildings and dismissal will be on hold until we receive an all clear from the authorities. We will keep you posted and please (know) that the safety of our students is our top priority.

Patch is heading to the scene and will update this story as more details become available.
