Holt Seniors Commit to College Sports Teams

Holt sports standouts will be playing college-level sports at North Dakota State University, Truman State University in Kirksville and Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg.

Clayton Ream, wrestling

Holt High School senior Clayton Ream has committed to wrestle for the Bisons of North Dakota State University in Fargo, ND. With his mother Pattie and father Patrick by his side, Clay signed his National Letter of Intent at Holt High School on November 14th. Clay is the 2012 USAW 145 lb. Junior National Champion and finished 2nd this year at the Missouri State Class 4 Competition. He competed for the Indians at the varsity level for three years (two years as Captain) earning three GAC Conference championships and placed at the state level all three years. His varsity record was 42-3 for the Indians. Clay also earned two varsity letters in Cross Country and was the Cross Country Team Captain his senior year as well.   In addition to Clay’s athletic accomplishments, he has also excelled in the classroom earning a GPA of 4.03 and a 30 on the ACT. Clay is a member of the National Honor Society and was selected this year to represent Holt High School at Missouri Boys State. He plans to study Biochemistry at NDSU.

Wyatt Fones, baseball

Holt High School senior Wyatt Fones has committed to play baseball for the Bulldogs of Truman State University in Kirksville, MO. With his mother DeeAnn, his father Steven and his sisters Abbie and Madelynn by his side, Wyatt signed his National Letter of Intent at Holt High School. Wyatt said the baseball program coupled with the school’s high academic standards is what drew him to Truman. “I feel like I can help the program continue to move in the right direction.”

Wyatt’s success in high school was not limited to his role behind the plate. He holds a 3.93 GPA and scored a 29 on the ACT test. He was a two-time member of the GAC All-Academic Team and has (to date) achieved perfect attendance all four years at Holt. Wyatt plans on majoring in pre-med at Truman.

Lindsey Dawson, softball

Holt High School senior Lindsey Dawson has committed to play softball for the University of Central Missouri Jennies in Warrensburg, MO. With her mother Laurie, her father Christopher and her brother Chris by her side, Lori signed her National Letter of Intent at Holt High School. “I really liked the feel of the campus,” said Lindsey. “Not only is it a great softball program, but the academics are awesome too.”

Lindsey was an infielder and four-year varsity player for the Indians. Her batting average this year was .464 and she hit two homeruns to help lead the team to a 17-9 season. Lindsey was named to the 2012 GAC All-Conference First Team and was a four-year member of the GAC All-Academic Team. She was also an Indian Cheerleader all four years and competed in the pole vault for the Track Team her last two years. Lindsey is a member of the Holt Student Council and DECA as well. She plans on studying business and marketing at UCM.
