Johnson Named MODSEA Teacher of the Year

For his years teaching driver's education.

Paul “Rich” Johnson has been awarded the Missouri Driver & Safety Education Association (MODSEA) Teacher of the Year Award.

Johnson has taught Drivers’ Education for the for 40 years. He also served two years as president of MODSEA.

He currently holds the record for continuous hours of driving lessons — 12 hours in one day. Johnson retired from full-time teaching in May of 2000, but continues to instruct Drivers’ Education at for students after school.

 “His enthusiasm for teaching kids is still as strong today as it was 40 years ago!” said friend and colleague William Schoonover, who nominated Johnson for the state award.
