MLK Essay Writer Awarded Scholarship
City honored three finalists at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. celebration.
For the second year in a row, the city of and the sponsors of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. celebration funded a scholarship for area students.
According to Mayor Paul Lambi, the $500 scholarship was based on an essay about Dr. King. The scholarship was opened to students at and High Schools in the school district.
The scholarship was awarded Monday, Jan. 17.

The three finalists were asked to come to the stage to be acknowledged by the crowd. The finalists were:
- Kaitlin Larkin, Lake Saint Louis
- Zach Carmichael, O'Fallon
- Jordan Morgan, Wentzville.
The theme of this year's essay was "Generation to Generation: Keeping the Dream Alive."
